At
the moment I'm practicing my memory sports. I'd like to enter
the World Championships in the summer if they'll let me, so
I'll need to be better than I am now. To give an idea of my
standard: my p.b. for one deck of cards is 1 minute 55
seconds. I'm working on this and I think I'll be able to get
it down to a minute with some rearranging of my number people
and a lot more journeys. That
brings up a problem I'm having. I'd like to have some journeys
for my studies but they're too valuable as card journeys. I
expect I'll need about 25 by the WC, and I've only got 7 so
far. So every time I make a new journey it gets used as a
card/number learning journey. I
thought about using Buzan's SEM3, but I tried it on some of
the matrices given in his book and I don't think it's for me.
I really don't like peg systems, though obviously some people
do since they're in every memory book everywhere. So instead
I'm investigating ways to create more locations. First
is a very cunning way of getting locations by using movies.
I'm trying to extract about 150 locations from the Back to the
Future series right now, and I'll let you know how it goes. Second
I'm going to try and create some imaginary locations. Since
they're for permanent memorisation hopefully it shouldn't be
too much of a problem that they don't exist. |
